Library Release
I always look forward to releasing a library selection of
Syrah from Alisos Vineyard. It never fails to reward us with incredibly complex
flavors and textures with extended bottle aging.
The Wine
The Syrah from Alisos Vineyard has traditionally taken much
longer than the norm to develop in the bottle and this vintage is no exception.
The color is still a deep, dark color. The aromas are still somewhat restrained,
but show more fruit in the aroma than upon release five years ago. On the
palate the wine is still dense and extracted but the flavors of ripe plums,
figs and licorice are now more pronounced. This wine is still in its upward
aging trajectory and will need an estimated four to six more years before it
reaches its peak plateau of maturity. I recommend decanting this wine one hour
before serving.
Food Pairings
This intensely flavored wine will pair well with flavorful
meats such as marinated pork, barbecued beef, and prime rib.
